Teachers' Voice

A high school science teacher's perspective on accommodating the needs of students with disabilities in the earth sciences.

Virtual Dice

An accessible virtual dice tool that allows students to roll up to twenty 6-sided digital dice per roll.

Soil Protocols

These soil protocols were derived from NASA's GLOBE program, which is designed to promote interest in the earth sciences for students at the primary and secondary school levels. The diagrams show modifications of the existing protocols to fit the needs of students with a variety of disabilities, including visual, hearing, and mobility impairments, as well as learning disabilities. All protocols were designed using Inspiration Software and strive for "low tech" options for teachers whenever possible. This project was funded through a grant from the Maine Space Grant Consortium to Professor Samantha Langley-Turnbaugh of the Environmental Science and Policy Program and Kate Murphy, undergraduate student, both at the University of Southern Maine.
