Exciting Opportunity to Be Part of EAST's Peer Tutoring Program

Become a member of EAST's peer tutoring program now!

Eastern Alliance in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (EAST) has designed a peer tutoring program that is beneficial for both the tutors and the learning partners. Peer tutors, both with and without disabilities, work with math, science, and technology teachers and provide individual academic assistance to students with a range of abilities.

Peer tutoring:

• Improves academic performance;
• Enhances self-esteem;
• Develops social skills;
• Improves classroom discipline;
• Is cost effective; and
• Works for students with a wide range of abilities.

EAST's peer tutoring model:

• Focuses on middle and high school students;
• Focuses on math, science, and technology;
• Provides extensive materials for training potential tutors to work effectively with their learning partners;
• Builds and affirms the reputation of the school within the community; and

EAST is funded by the National Science Foundation to increase the number and diversity of students with disabilities receiving degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and ultimately entering STEM careers in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
